Marj Weatherall nee Skuthorpe was born at Dennawan 11 February 1940, a Murrawarri woman. Her mother was Violet Skuthorpe nee Corrigan, her father Jack Skuthorpe. She grew up at Goodooga and worked at Mogala and Dumble as a housemaid. She also worked for a while at the Royal Hotel in Goodooga. Marj met her husband Aubrey Weatherall when he came to work at Goodooga from Dirranbandi. Together they had seven children - Neil, Gerald, Grahame, Gordon, Laura, Mark and Bruce. They lived on the riverbank at Goodooga and then moved to work at Angledool. When they retired they moved to Walgett where Marj lives with her son Mark and his family. Marj would like to see more opportunities for young people in Walgett in the future.
Born 6 June 1923 in Walgett, Ted Thorne, a Gamilaraay man, is the son of Ida Murphy and Colin Thorne. Ted grew up on properties in the Walgett - Collarenebri district until the family moved into Collarenebri, where he was baptized in 1929. His father worked on properties fencing and ringbarking, so Ted worked with him. He was later a shearer for well over 30 years.
Ted is known for being a fine pool player and for being very knowledgeable regarding all cultural matters. He believes the best part of his life was the 25 years he spent with the late and much-missed Isobel Flick. Together they were part of the team which rescued the carved trees from Collie Farms homestead garden. Ted won't express any of his hopes for Walgett's future - he believes it's no use him hoping, as it's in the hands of future generations.
