The Dharriwaa Elders Group launches cultural awareness video
In 2005 the Dharriwaa Elders Group decided to produce a low budget cultural awareness video to be used by all government departments to attract and keep professionals working in our region. The DEG first sought a small amount of funds for this much-needed resource from loca, state and federal government. None was forthcoming despite the need for such a resource being identified by all agencies for many years. Because of this the DEG decided to complete the project in its own time, and sell it back to government on a user-pays basis. Since then the Dept of Environment and Heritage has supplied some of the financial resources for the video's completion. The 32min DVD was launched in Walgett 22 June 2007 and is available for sale at a cost recovery basis. Supportive comments received include: “We congratulate the Dharriwaa Elders Group on their initiative in producing this DVD. It’s a must-see for all professionals thinking of working in Walgett”
NSW Dept of Attorney General 12 April 2007.
“Congratulations on producing such an invaluable resource for the community”
Walgett Community College 3 May 2007.
